Clinical Simulation Committee (CSC) Report

Courses in the new financial year have kicked-off in April 2018. The schedule for this year courses may be accessed via HKCA website. Historically many of these courses are fully subscribed by HA for trainees and specialists. Discussion is now in progress to make available some of these courses to all HKCA Fellows. At the meantime, feedback on how best to support the needs of our Fellows is welcome. Following the Strategic Planning meeting in June 2017, Council has formed a HKCA Simulation Development Taskforce to review the governance structure and recommend to Council the future directions of simulation-based education and training in HKCA. The Taskforce is chaired by Dr SO Hing Yu and has met twice over the last 2 months. HKCA has also allocated an annual scholarship fund to sponsor Fellows who are interested to attend simulation-based training courses (including train-the-trainer courses) and scientific meetings. You may access more information at the HKCA website.

Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaesthesiology 2018 (17 – 18 November 2018, Hong Kong)

The Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaesthesiology 2018 (ASM 2018), which is jointly organized by the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and the Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong, will be held on 17 - 18 November 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

ASM 2018 has become one of the most important experience sharing platforms for anaesthetists, intensivists and perioperative physicians in Hong Kong. The theme of this year's meeting is "Stepping outside the Comfort Zone". Everyone prefers to stay in their comfort zone due to a sense of familiarity and certainty. In the increasingly competitive world, taking new initiatives and challenges is the cornerstone towards achieving greater excellence. Through knowledge exchanges among experts from across the globe, we hope the knowledge acquired can translate into better clinical practice that will ultimately benefit our patients.

This year’s programme includes Symposia on Perioperative Medicine, Pain, Neuroscience, Regional, Obstetrics, Sedation, Medicolegal, Transfusion and Coagulation, ICU and Aviation Medicine as well as a series of mind-blowing workshops. Please visit our meeting website at http://www.anaesthesiology.hk for more information.
