Major changes in CME/CPD are now being proposed by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Basically, All fellows would need some compulsory NON- passive participation of CME/CPD activities in order to satisfy the CME/CPD requirements. The proposed changes are listed below. Starting from 1 Jan 2011, mandatory CPD would take place. Colleges are suggested to divide the CME/CPD activities as a broad framework into four main groups in 2011 with proposed capping / minimum as indicated in the table below. Individual Colleges will decide the actual activities to be included under each grouping:
The Academy would like to seek individual Colleges' viewpoints for these changes. As such, the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists would like to seek individual fellow’s viewpoints before replying to the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Please send your viewpoints/comments to the office of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiology (by mail, fax or email) at Room 807 Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Building 99 Wong Chuk Hang Road Aberdeen Hong Kong on or before 10 July 2006. Please also noted that the Academy had already passed the notion that starting from 1 January 2008, no more than 75 points can be awarded for passive participation in a CME cycle. HKCA CME program and ANZCA mandatory CPD program ANZCA has introduced its mandatory CPD program since 2009. We have been informed by ANZCA that HKCA CME program is recognized by ANZCA to be equivalent to their mandatory CPD program. Should you have any enquiries, please visit their website www.anzca.edu.au or contact them at cpd@anzca.edu.au March 2009 |
